Game 030 [Action] - CATFIGHT

[ If you happen to be looking up within the vicinity of Community Building 5, or on the roof, you might spot a strange creature. It's white with black markings, vaguely fox or cat-like, has strange tattoo markings instead of front legs or its tail, and a second set of wings that are folded on top of a (possibly suspiciously familiar) set of rainbow filial wings. Oh, yes. And it's BIG. About seven feet to the shoulder, to be precise, except you can't really tell that because it's curled up and seems to be dozing.

Joshua is fed up with not being able to sleep.

Poke him?

Alternatively, maybe you noticed the GIANT CATFIGHT that suddenly erupted in the streets below between him and a creature that flickers back and forth between these two forms:

A fight which is not one to be interrupted, but after they go their separate ways after the fight, you're welcome to poke either one of them. Just expect them to be ruffled and mildly unhappy. ]

((tl;dr poke either sleepy Joshua on the roof of C5, ruffled Joshua in the street, or ruffled Hanekoma in the street. All in Noise forms. Don't worry, they won't actually attack you.))

[ He might be kind enough to let Josh sleep if he knew how long it'd been. Unfortunately, all Sanae knows is that something weird is up, Josh is in a form he hasn't had for centuries, and standing right near him is getting no reaction. Hesitantly, he moves forward. This doesn't feel right. ]

Joshua?

[ Not even the voice wakes him at this point. Two months, and Joshua is enjoying the first actual sleep he's had since then. ]

[ He wavers, finding the whole thing incredibly unsettling and a bit worrying. Really, his two options are looking like 'tune up' or 'physically touch him,' and he doesn't want to have his wings out when those claws are around to catch at them.

Ready to teleport the hell away at any moment, he inches closer and gives the wall of Joshua fur a good poke in the side with the toe of his shoe. ]

You still alive in there, boss?

[ Well, the poke gets him awake enough to register there's an outside world. The fact that there's an outside world is enough to register that someone is right next to him, and someone right next to-when the hell did Sanae get there

Without even giving his brain enough time to fully wake up from his nap, he reacts on instinct, giving a startled, aggressive cry and twisting, claws bared towards Sanae, charging him with enough force to send both of them skidding right off the roof.

Remember that whole "brain not quite awake" thing? Yeah. ]

[ Sanae is quick, but not quick enough. That wall of white fur surges before his eyes, there is impact, and then they're falling. He tries to swear but the wind tears his breath away, and before he can even register what's going on, instinct has taken over and he's Panthera Cantus.

He flickers as he falls, trying to latch onto Joshua as they go down. ]

[ Joshua mostly registers what's going on when Sanae's code shifts, but at this point, he's not about to stop himself. He does his best to stay above Sanae, pushing him down, trying to make sure he's the one to hit the ground beneath Joshua. ]

[ Teleportation is a handy thing. He writhes in Joshua's grip, and then, in a moment of blue fur and tiger stripes, is suddenly not there anymore; Tigris Cantus crash-lands a few feet away, tattoo wings thrown open to slow his fall. ]

[ Joshua hits the ground hard and has to take a moment to steady himself. After a second he instantly turns and makes another lunge at Sanae. What were you doing while he was asleep? ]

[ Just as he's riding back up into the air, Josh hits him and he goes down hard. Fur shifting to red again, Sanae snarls wordlessly and throws all his weight against Joshua, trying to fight the bigger feline off of him. ]

[ Joshua's never actually fought Sanae's Noise form before, so he's not ready when the retaliation sends him flying a good several feet back. He gives a low growl as he pulls himself back to his feet, snapping his jaws once in anger. ]

What did you do?

I didn't do anything. Just wanted to know what was wrong.

[ He backs off a few feet, distinctly ruffled but otherwise unhurt. That tattoo tail lashes violently, but otherwise Sanae isn't acting too aggressive. ]

Nothing's wrong.

[ And possibly to prove it or maybe out of anger, he charges again. ]

[ He snarls again, distinctly angry now, and rushes to meet Joshua with a tackle of his own. He'll subdue the guy physically, if that's what it comes down to. ]

[ Well, you're gonna have to fight for it. Joshua pushes off with his hind legs and lunges, claws forward. ]

[ Those claws hurt when they catch at his mane and his arms, but Sanae's too busy trying to get his jaws around Josh's throat to care. He's not fighting to kill, or even to injure; he just wants to pin the guy, and he wants it over with now. ]

[ Joshua's minor victory is short-lived, as he feels the teeth on his neck. He gives a cross between a loud yelp and a yowl and twists, trying to get his neck free before he tries to focus on inflicting more damage on Sanae anymore. ]

[ Sanae throws his weight down on Joshua, trying trap the other Noise beneath him. He clamps down more tightly on Josh's neck, struggling to hang on. ]

Get down and stay down!

[ Joshua doesn't even have a retort for that. He freezes for half a second before spreading his Noise wings, and in one single movement, pushes off the ground with his front legs and gives a single, strong flap. All the effort he can into one move to shoot upwards, trying to break free. ]

[ It works wonders. Sanae snarls as Joshua twists out of his grip, snapping his jaws and backing away with his ears laid flat. Joshua, you are being way too difficult. ]

[ It's been too long since he's fought like this. Joshua doesn't remember the finer points to moving his Noise form, and at the moment it just feels clunky, strange limbs he hasn't had in a good century. He shoots upwards for a little farther before coming down. He lands awkwardly, back paws first.

The spots on his neck where he was bitten still sting with pain, and he crouches low, taking a defensive stance despite his size advantage against Sanae. A low growl emits from his throat, and he watches Sanae carefully, not making another move. Not yet. ]

[ Sanae is far more comfortable in this form than Joshua, and it's an advantage he can recognize, though only dimly. He's not thinking much about strategy, not looking for this to become more than a minor scuffle. He reaches up with one of those too-humanoid arms to touch his shoulder, the place where Joshua's claws connected.

He's tense without really realizing it, standing in a crouch, ears still flattened and tail lashing. ]

Why are you in this form?

[ Joshua's mind is racing, fight or flee, looking for an opening to attack, looking for a chance to run. He can't figure out if this is an indicator of things to come, of something more dangerous, or if Sanae will give this attempt up if it fails this time. He doesn't know, and fuck he just wanted to sleep. ]

That isn't your business.

I had to prod you in the side for you to snap out of it. Something's up.

[ He knows better than to shift back to human, to let his guard down, but he wants to. This situation is more aggravating than anything else, really. ]

I came to talk and found you passed out in Noise form.

I was sleeping, [ he admits only because it's better than "passed out". And it doesn't mean admitting that he hasn't been able to sleep. ]

You usually sleep hard enough not to notice me standing right there? When it's me?

[ He doubts there's anyone else Joshua's more uncomfortable around than him, even Minamimoto. Still, Sanae loosens up a bit, the lashing of his tail slowing some. He flickers again, briefly. ]

Just came to talk. Thought you'd wake up when I got close.
