[ For once, Joshua is broadcasting from outside. For anyone who wishes to track him down, he's not hard to find, simply sitting in the plaza. The sound of the fountain is just faintly picked up by the journal. ]

In a place like this with so much in flux, it isn't surprising, but still manages to somehow be unexpected. Like a next door neighbor who you didn't realize was moving away until there's a truck outside loaded up with boxes. It was just a part of the setting that you always expected to be there.

I suppose it's reasonable. When the last resident of a house leaves, everything that the entire group had goes with them. After all, the Malnosso don't seem fond of leaving loose ends around here. What's the difference between a room and an entire building?

Though I should probably make the announcement that it likely now falls on me to make. If you knew of a boy who called himself Beat, he appears to be no longer in Luceti.

[ And with him, the last piece of home Joshua had vanishes into thin air.

One thing that Joshua doesn't realize is that his death penalty is temporarily gone, so if anyone feels like showing up and making some music around him, it would probably freak him out quite a bit. ]

New Feather season.

[ Joshua gives a frustrated sigh, and there's the sound of sipping as he takes a drink from a cup of coffee. Dammit, Hanekoma, your nervous habits have finally worn off on him two years after the fact. ]

If any of you were wondering, I've been gone for at least a week and a half. And if anyone cares to give me a date, I can give you a more precise duration than that.

[ Not that Joshua is too terribly fond of being in the village, but at least talking to people is good for taking his mind off of things. Being held captive by his lonesome gives him a little too much time to think, and being poked and prodded is almost preferable. As long as things never get as bad as they did his first kidnapping. He'd take a month of solitary confinement over that. ]

They tend to give us an experiment right before the New Feathers come, don't they? Cause or effect, which do you think? [ He takes another sip of coffee. ] And while I'm asking, what did I miss this time?

[ The picture in the feed is a rather disgruntled Joshua, sopping wet and with a towel draped haphazardly on his head. ]

Let it never be said that the Malnosso are inhospitable. Of all the places to be left out in the rain, they deposited me on my very own roof. [ Dramatic sigh. ] The least they could have done was given me a ladder to get down.

Well then, who wants to let me know what I've missed?

[ Day 6 ]

[ Early morning (locked to Tsuzuki) ]

[ The best part of waking up in a body that isn't yours is finding out the company said body keeps when it sleeps. Which is why the first thing that Joshua notices, upon waking up in a place which is distinctly not House 38, is the other person in bed with him. ]

... I think I missed something.

[ And after that fun little interaction resolves itself, Joshua picks up the journal and reaches out to the person it might be a bit important to contact about this. ]

[ 100% filtered to Joshua and Hisoka because he isn't quite sure which is the necessary one in this sort of situation ]

I do hope that my body is over there with you.

[ Morning onwards, open ]

[ Joshua and Hisoka are wandering around town together. But to anyone who knows them, something seems odd... ]

It's rather hard to believe that you wouldn't have any way to make mental defenses.

If you want to figure it out while you're in there, be my guest.

[ Feel free to run into the two of them. Clearly they want to be bothered. At least I'm sure Hisoka does, since he isn't the one with the headache for once. ]

[ It was an average day of grocery shopping. At least, until the world spun and Joshua's feet nearly collapsed underneath him.

Now he's stumbling his way towards House 38, the groceries abandoned behind him. Blood drips from the corner of his mouth, and every so often he doubles over coughing, clutching his stomach like he might throw up. Slowly, very slowly, red stains are appearing on his back as he goes onwards.

Shibuya withdrawal, exactly six months after his de-Ascension. ]

Not now..

[ The entry opens with audio. ]

Wha--

[ But the voice is cut off almost immediately by the sound of sudden coughing. Red splotches appear on the page, and after only a few seconds, the feed audibly cuts off as the journal is quickly shut. A few minutes later, a written entry starts up in its place with the splotches still visible. ]

What day is it?

And who decided to poke around my home while I was gone?

[ Joshua was used to empty space. For more years than he'd cared to count, it had been all he'd ever spent most of his time in. He didn't need friends. He didn't need companions.

Without his city, maybe he'd grown too attached to his Producer. That had to be what it was. The one bit of it all that stuck with him, even here. Even through all of it, Sanae was his one connection to what he was. To Neku, he was a friend. To Shiki, he was a bother. But to Hanekoma, he was the Composer, even here with no Shibuya to watch over. He'd said that if he ever found a way home, he'd be sure to bring Joshua with him. So was this an accident, or was that a lie?

Early Tuesday morning, a written message goes out over the journals. Joshua doesn't trust his voice right now. ]

Kat's Kradle is closed until further notice.

[ After that, he heads down the stairs, doesn't bother locking the front door, makes himself a cup of coffee, pulls a stool up to the bar, and sits. He doesn't drink the beverage. He just holds the cup in his hands and stares off into space blankly over the counter top. Not moving. Not thinking.

But there were a few things left behind, and at least one of them should be dealt with. So if the intended recipient doesn't show up at the formerly-a-cafe before the early evening, he's finally going to move and make his way to house 44, a note in his hand. ]

[ You know what is not cool? Falling asleep at the end of a very productive day of a very productive Game, and rather than waking up the next day in the same Game, suddenly waking up in front of a half-painted canvas. The mural featuring his own Reaper wing as the center point on the nearby wall didn't make things much better. Suspicious? Just a little.

So today you can find a very confused and hiding it Reaper trying to get the lay of the land all around Luceti. He's certainly not in Edo anymore. ]

(( Backdated to yesterday ))

[ Maybe if he'd remembered that this day, out of all the days of this month, this day in particular, was the one-year anniversary of when he arrive in Luceti, he'd have been expecting something like this. As it was, he hadn't been checking the calendar. A year was a terrifying thought; a whole year separated from his city. It was one of those things he just didn't think about, pushed it to the back of his mind and ignored it for the sake of his own sanity. So he went about his day as if nothing was wrong.

The new pain started as just a burning on his shoulders, high up where his Angel wings connected, so he ignored it. And for a few minutes, it was bearable. Then without warning it pulsed straight down his back, straight down the decay, hit the bottom and seemed to explode outwards, sending pain to every corner of his body. The first pulse stopped him in his tracks. By the fourth, he had collapsed to his knees.

Joshua couldn't remember well pulling himself along and forcing his feet to move. All he knew was that it hurt, it hurt a lot, as he dragged himself off the path and through the trees and made a beeline for one specific building.

He knew what Hanekoma was capable of. That's exactly why he had no choice. As much as he knew what Sanae might make of this and how badly that could end, the terrifying certainty only grew inside of him with each explosion of pain through his body, through his Music, through his Soul. And after the agonizingly long time the short walk should have taken, he stumbled his way into Kat's Kradle just as his vibe reeled, sending his white wings flickering into existence and out just as fast. He went to support himself against a table, missed, and collapsed to the floor with barely any hope of moving again on his own. The white mass of feathers sliding in and out of his vision didn't even seem like his own anymore. The pain was too much to think over, his shirt felt warm and sticky against his back, and somehow, he was absolutely sure that either he or Shibuya was dying. Maybe even both.

Hanekoma was Joshua's only option. ]

[ The question indeed comes a couple hours after midnight, early enough that you don't have to be too much of a late-nighter to catch it going up. ]

What sort of things do you do to help yourself relax?

[ After he poses the question, Joshua will be off doing his current favorite: showering. So he won't be responding for a while until he's done. ]

[ If you happen to be looking up within the vicinity of Community Building 5, or on the roof, you might spot a strange creature. It's white with black markings, vaguely fox or cat-like, has strange tattoo markings instead of front legs or its tail, and a second set of wings that are folded on top of a (possibly suspiciously familiar) set of rainbow filial wings. Oh, yes. And it's BIG. About seven feet to the shoulder, to be precise, except you can't really tell that because it's curled up and seems to be dozing.

Joshua is fed up with not being able to sleep.

Poke him?

Alternatively, maybe you noticed the GIANT CATFIGHT that suddenly erupted in the streets below between him and a creature that flickers back and forth between these two forms:

A fight which is not one to be interrupted, but after they go their separate ways after the fight, you're welcome to poke either one of them. Just expect them to be ruffled and mildly unhappy. ]

((tl;dr poke either sleepy Joshua on the roof of C5, ruffled Joshua in the street, or ruffled Hanekoma in the street. All in Noise forms. Don't worry, they won't actually attack you.))

[ Hey Luceti, who remembers that stunt Joshua pulled ages and ages back?

Well, guess what. He's trying again, in a different place. Because the ever-so-lovely earthquake has resulted in a shift of what he thinks is Luceti's center, but pretty much no one but Josh cares about that anyway.

Let's hope there aren't too many people in House 29 in the wee hours of the morning, because between there and the ruins of what was once House 22 stands Joshua. He's still for a moment, hands raised to the sky, murmuring to himself.

Suddenly there's a flash of light.

Then loud, echoing, sharp enough to feel like a punch straight to the chest, ]

CRACK!

[ Yup, he failed again. This time around, though, he's lying crumpled on the ground, completely unmoving. Occasionally there's a faint crackle as a soft wisp of power flickers across his skin and vanishes.

Um. He might need help. Beware the zapping. ]

[ Today, there's a Joshua wandering Luceti, seemingly preoccupied with his thoughts. Recent events have forced him to consider things that he very much had wanted to keep from the back of his mind, but now that they're there, he can't ignore them.

People change. He knew that better than anyone. Sometimes for the worse, and sometimes for the better. Yes, Sanae had been selfish, and admitted to having no regrets, but... even with Joshua's rejection, he still trusted him, on some level, somehow. Why. He shouldn't. Joshua shot him, almost shot him again, tried to kill him twice...

How many times had Sanae tried to kill him back?

He was searching for forgiveness, whether out of genuine feelings or not. And as much as Joshua didn't want to admit it, he was tired of being so paranoid. Of having his guard up every moment he was outside of his room. Did he really hate Sanae enough to continue this? Joshua thinks back, trying to remember what he'd felt the moment his aim adjusted slightly to completely miss shooting Sanae's body. On some level, he'd become the selfish one. And maybe there was still some good left in the man who'd helped him out more times than he could remember. Some good that he'd been rejecting even the possibility of. Did Sanae really deserve that?

... No, he answers himself. He doesn't.

He notices the giant burst of Soul rushing outwards before he realizes that his body is no longer a fifteen-year-old's. He freezes in place, and it takes a few seconds to register. His code slowly rewriting itself. His vibe is down where he normally keeps it, yet his body won't get any smaller. Powers he'd long since lost access to returning to him, powers he'd never had slowly growing inside him, and a prickle all over his body that was only getting more intense as moments passed. ]

... Not here. No. Stop... No...!

[ He wants to reverse it and he can't. It's too late. Of all the possible things to happen to him, it had to be this. The absolute worst of the best. Shit. ]

(( ... tl;dr: EVENT START! Details are here for those of you who missed it the first time. Have fun! ))

[ The camera only catches a glimpse of trees from below. Joshua's back, but he's exhausted, among other wonderful things, so he knows he's not up to making his usual filters. So instead, he's hoping that the two won't think to look for a second part of the journal to hack once they get through the first one.

For those who want to wander across him, he's actually sitting against a tree a small distance from the back of Community Housing 2. He isn't visible from the building, but he can see that it's there... he just doesn't know which one it is.

No, no one can sense his vibe right now. >.> ]

[ Joshua has been running a few errands today. Maybe you've seen him traversing the main area of the village. Now he's left the plaza and was about to reach the nothernmost bridge when he suddenly collapses.

He's awake when he hits the ground, and within moments, is doubled over, clutching his stomach. Within a minute, he's audibly suppressing gagging noises.

Good afternoon, Luceti. Josh is getting hit with Shibuya withdrawal. ]

[ The feed cuts in to the sound of coughing, and a very soft ] dammit [ before Joshua speaks into the journal, his voice somewhat hoarse and higher-pitched than usual. ]

Hanekoma, come get me. [ Mostly he just sounds exhausted. ]

[ Josh is sitting against a tree on the edge of the forest, staring at the mountains off in the distance, his journal in his lap. He looks younger... 10, maybe 12 at the oldest. He's covered in burn marks and bruises, and his clothes are completely ruffled and smattered with blood stains, not to mention a bit oversized due to him not being his usual stature. There's blood-stained bandages on his arms, and more hidden beneath his clothes. In other words, he's in bad shape.

Not to mention shivering. It's cold and snowing, and he's not dressed for the weather. ]

[ The feed cuts in at the sound of a door banging open, a distance away from the journal but still somewhat loud. A chair scrapes against a floor, and Joshua's voice can be heard near the journal: ]

Just what do you think you're-?!

[ But he cuts off as a somewhat soft but very high-pitched noise begins to sound. Anyone who's familiar with such things might realize that the journal clearly can't pick up all the frequencies of whatever's making the noise. However, it does catch the sound of something falling to the floor, followed by footsteps that increase in volume. The footsteps stop at about the same time the sound does. Finally, there's the gentle noise of the audio cutting out as the journal is shut. ]

[ In the early morning hours, standing roughly between buildings 36, 38, and 39, is a somewhat unfamiliar figure. Maybe you recognize those rainbow wings. Maybe that hair style and color looks awfully familiar. Maybe you can't see at all, what with it being really freaking early and still dark out.

But one thing's pretty clear: the figure standing there isn't a teen. He's an adult.

He raises his hands and closes his eyes. After a moment, he starts mumbling to himself. He didn't see anyone close enough around to hear him, but if you happen to, you might notice the translation keeps slipping. ]

CRACK!

[ A noise, loud enough to give you the feeling of being hit in the chest if you're reasonably close, echoes loudly around the village. Feel free to be woken up, investigate, whatever. If you manage to locate its source, you'll find an adult Joshua kneeling on the ground, clutching his head in pain. ]

[ If you happen to be around the outskirts of the forest, specifically along the edge closest to the mountains, you might happen to spot a tree with a glowing trunk. If you inspect further, you'll notice that the glow is in fact not coming from the tree, but a figure sitting at the base of the trunk.

Yes, it's Joshua. He landed in the mountains and managed to make his way to some semblance of shelter, but now that it's getting dark, the power he's been using to keep himself warm on this windy day is now a lot more visible. He's not going back to the village unless absolutely necessary unless his speech returns to normal, and he can easily survive a few more days without food.

If you dare poke him, he won't be happy to see anyone in the least. ]
