Game 046 [Voice/Action] - The Longest Two Years

I'm guessing most if not all of you have felt the phenomenon where time seems to move at different rates, even though you know it's all in your mind. So tell me, does being in Luceti cause time to feel different to you than it did when you were back home?

[ Two years. It's been two years, and after experiencing as much time slip by as Joshua has, feeling those two years is a less-than-welcome change.

As a distraction, he spends the day painting a side of his building that has been blank ever since a certain someone went home. It's certainly not Hanekoma's style, but it's similar to it, the color scheme the same though the designs are more fluid, less blocky and more streamlined, with harsh points instead of rounded curves.

Maybe this is his way of making peace with it. Maybe he's finally moved on.

Maybe he's just that homesick. ]

I've only been here a short amount of time, but... I think this place does have a slightly different power, as of such, regarding how time works.

I find myself certainly remembering things from further back than I usually do.

What sorts of things would those be?

Creating the barrier to seperate my land from the rest of the outside world, acquaintances who passed on centuries ago... that sort of thing.

Usually, I start forgetting after about sixty years, but... I seem to be remembering things recently.

Do you think there's any pattern to what you're remembering?

...So far, it's all been about home. About Gensokyo.

Most of it has been related to the Hakurei Barrier, or the clan tasked with keeping it safe.

... Is it at all similar to the Malnosso's barrier?

I can't be entirely sure, considering how much of my power was lost upon arriving here.

There appears to be similarities, though, yes. Most particularly, nobody can get in or out unless someone with the proper power manipulates the barrier

Then might you be remembering things because they're connected to experiences here?

I suppose it's possible. It could also be possibly coincidence.

Have you investigated the barrier already?

The first day I felt well enough to travel.

With my normal powers, passing through such a thing would be child's play, but... I suspect that the ones in charge - Malnosso, was it? - knew specifically what powers to restrict me from using.

Rather convenient for them. If they don't like a strength any one of us has, they can simply remove it from our possession.

You're just as stuck as the rest of us, I take it.

I most certainly am.

Even if I wasn't, though, making that fact obvious would do nothing but garner jealousy and hate.

As valuable an asset as that would be, you're probably exactly right about that. People don't take kind to others having freedoms they themselves don't.

It makes me wonder if the bitterness that some feel when others disappear is sorrow for losing a friend, or jealousy that they themselves were not spared.

I'd wager that that depends. There are those who've grown content with their lives here. Of them, I'd bet there isn't that envy.

But if anyone who still wishes to return home claims they aren't jealous when an acquaintance departs, they're a liar.

Hard to say, I don't pay attention to time, really. From the looks of the journal... almost two months?

I could care less; I am more worried for the state of my home than my place in it.

I do admit that this place is not to my taste, however.
