Game 046 [Voice/Action] - The Longest Two Years

I'm guessing most if not all of you have felt the phenomenon where time seems to move at different rates, even though you know it's all in your mind. So tell me, does being in Luceti cause time to feel different to you than it did when you were back home?

[ Two years. It's been two years, and after experiencing as much time slip by as Joshua has, feeling those two years is a less-than-welcome change.

As a distraction, he spends the day painting a side of his building that has been blank ever since a certain someone went home. It's certainly not Hanekoma's style, but it's similar to it, the color scheme the same though the designs are more fluid, less blocky and more streamlined, with harsh points instead of rounded curves.

Maybe this is his way of making peace with it. Maybe he's finally moved on.

Maybe he's just that homesick. ]

So that makes it all move faster?

Perceived time is affected by our situations.

I would think that more happening would make time appear to go slower in retrospect. It's less idle time to be forgotten.

That might be true.

I've found that instead the anticipation leading up to a peak moment makes time seem to drag on, and then after it's passed the time slips away before you realize.

I guess it's something that ends up being different for everyone.

Indeed. And it's impossible to really understand what it's like for another, since we all perceive our own time in different ways.

It makes some things difficult to understand, doesn't it?

There's so many things in this world you can never understand, simply because you are only one perspective out of many.

Like the story about the blind men and the elephant. Each of them only describes a part of it.

And because of that, I can't fathom what it's like to be you, who thinks these years have gone quickly. You have no idea what it's like to be me, to whom these years have passed so slowly.

[She's seen thousands of years; but the pressures of Luceti make her need answers as soon as possible, every moment is crucial. It rushes her.

And of course, that was a very long time go anyway.]

I suppose it's hard to truly see from another's perspective.

Of course it is. To think otherwise is to be blind.

But I think... [The hesitance suggests she isn't entirely sure of herself]

We can still make efforts to understand each other.

Yes. But how close do we ever actually get?

I can't pretend to know everything about someone, but as I talk with them more and spend more time with them, I can start to understand them better and better.

What do you think you gain by that? Why bother trying to see the world the way someone else does?

It's not about gaining something for myself. It's about being able to get along with others.

You don't think you gain anything from that?

I'm saying that isn't the point. There aren't ulterior motives involved in friendship.

Simply having friends is something that some don't see a point to.
