[ It's windy, and it's cold, but Joshua has an anniversary to celebrate in his own quiet way and he's not going to let the weather stop him. His first stop is to swing by his old room, room 7 at Community Housing 5. It's still empty, but he's not surprised to find that both Hanekoma's graffiti and his own long-disabled traps have disappeared from the walls.

After that, he'll spend some time trying to spray paint one of the not-yet-painted walls of House 38. Of course, given that spray paint doesn't like cold temperatures and really doesn't like wind, that's going to produce a result that's about as neat and tidy as you'd expect. So after a little while wrestling with that, he'll head inside to make himself a cup of nostalgia coffee (not as good as Hanekoma's...) and sit down with his journal to warm up. ]

What was your first experiment here, and what did you think about it? [ He giggles. ] For me, I suppose an amusement park made for a rather gentle introduction. Does anyone else remember the Great Mysterio?

Then that would happen no matter who he chose for companionship. Besides, being affected by the emotions of those around them is hardly unique to empaths.

You're right. But still, it must be worse for them. Otherwise he wouldn't faint so much.

Maybe. He doesn't eat as much as he should.

If that was the case, I wish I had found out earlier. Letting Hisoka just faint all the time and take it for granted that it can't be fixed seems kind of... mean.

Wouldn't having him hold out for a false hope be in some ways even crueler? If you're only searching for a solution, you might not even notice you have the wrong cause.

You know what? You're right. Giving someone false hope is worse.

Would he honestly answer what is wrong if you asked?

No. Not anymore.

So I have to guess, most of the time.

Or you find out other ways.

But if he won't say, he has little room to complain when things go wrong, don't you think?

It's not his fault. I think that he simply doesn't understand that people need to be told things. We don't pick it up as easily as he does.

Well if that's the way he's going to be, you still have some options. [ Like asking Joshua. ] But tell him that. He cares for you. He might even listen.

[That comments shakes him out of his unusual honesty. Tsuzuki looks at Joshua curiously.]

...Why are you doing this? Helping me, I mean.

[ Joshua giggles. ]

Because it's what I tend to do when talking to you. You just don't notice it most of the time because no one likes someone else suddenly ripping off their band-aids.

That's because it hurts, Joshua.

[Joshua should notice that he's not quite as depressed as he was in the beginning. It always catches him off guard when people try to do something for him, but that doesn't mean he's not grateful.]

[ That gets another giggle. ]

Of course it hurts. But that band-aid needs to go sometime.

[There's no grudge here. Tsuzuki takes personal pain in stride, even if he sulks about it for a little while.]

Do you help a lot of people this way?

Mmm... maybe, hee hee. [ He'll admit to helping Tsuzuki, but he's not about to (potentially publicly) admit to his MO. ]
