Game 054 [Action/Voice]

[ It's windy, and it's cold, but Joshua has an anniversary to celebrate in his own quiet way and he's not going to let the weather stop him. His first stop is to swing by his old room, room 7 at Community Housing 5. It's still empty, but he's not surprised to find that both Hanekoma's graffiti and his own long-disabled traps have disappeared from the walls.

After that, he'll spend some time trying to spray paint one of the not-yet-painted walls of House 38. Of course, given that spray paint doesn't like cold temperatures and really doesn't like wind, that's going to produce a result that's about as neat and tidy as you'd expect. So after a little while wrestling with that, he'll head inside to make himself a cup of nostalgia coffee (not as good as Hanekoma's...) and sit down with his journal to warm up. ]

What was your first experiment here, and what did you think about it? [ He giggles. ] For me, I suppose an amusement park made for a rather gentle introduction. Does anyone else remember the Great Mysterio?

We will. But make sure you keep to that conviction. Otherwise, there's almost no way you won't regret it.

Oh, I know. Bottom line, I have to be able to live with myself. That really kinda limits what I'd be willing to do.

That's good. Some people don't stop to consider that before they get into situations. And then by the time they realize what they've done, it's already too late.

[Yeah, she's kind of guilty of that too. >_> Nami likes to think she's learned her lessons from that. Kinda harsh fallout.]

Some people are too impulsive or greedy for their own good.

You've never made a bad deal?

I wouldn't say that. But I think I've never made a deal I should have known better than to make.

That's the best you can do, sometimes.

I'd like to say the same, but I guess you could say I've learned from experience at least.

[neverplaysfair]

There's always something to be learned from bad experiences, if you're open to learning from them.

Do you think you make better decisions now?

[mikangirl]

I'm sure some will come back to bite me on the ass. I'd say I make more informed decisions, at least.

[ Joshua giggles. ]

Well, that's certainly something, at least. It's arguably impossible to never make a poor decision without being omniscient.

[mikangirl]

Arguably.

Then you've got the people who never bother to think it through first and yet somehow always make the right decision first time.

Luck like that always runs out sooner or later.

[mikangirl]

Always. Some people have the skill and the willpower to back their luck up.

[neverplaysfair]

Even then, the world can be a rough place. Even with skill, willpower, and luck, things won't always work out. That's life.

Not much of an optimist, are you? Don't worry. I already know that part firsthand, too.

[neverplaysfair]

I like to think of myself more as an optimistic realist.

[mikangirl]

[Snrk.] Well, I suppose that's the best way to be.

I certainly think so. [ He giggles. ] But then again, I might be biased.

I'm just a pessimist through and through. [...] Who is occasionally prone to bouts of optimism. Or something.

Not very through and through, then, are you? Hee hee.

[mikangirl]

[Snrk.] Suppose not. I blame it on all the optimists I know.

That is an excellent way of putting it.

Do you get overwhelmed?

Not any more. You learn to roll with it after a while.
