Game 035 [Action] - Last Christmas I Gave You My Heart

[ If you're up and about late, late on the border of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, you might happen to catch Joshua making his way from the plaza towards Community Housing 5, holding what on closer inspection reveals itself to be a violin case. He's rather under-dressed, especially considering the snow is picking up, but he doesn't seem to mind much at all.

A little later, you can find him on top of Community Housing 5, sans violin case. He's just sitting in the snow, staring up at the stars that occasionally peek through the clouds. ]

[Neku couldn't sleep so he decided to take a walk. Seeing Joshua heading from the plaza on his way toward there, Neku goes to catch up to him, a little surprised to see him out here.]

You're out late.

[ Joshua turns, and after a moment, giggles. ]

I could say the same for you.

[soundfrequency]

[He shrugs.]

Couldn't sleep.

[...and now eying that case Joshua is carrying.]

Well, the cold isn't particularly good for that, I hear. Hee hee. You'll sleep better if you're warm.

Doesn't the cold constrict your blood vessels or something and make you tired? Er, either way I just thought a walk would help. Is... that a violin case?

[neverplaysfair]

That's not proper sleep, though. [ He glances to the case. ] Hmm, I suspect so, but I haven't risked opening it. Instruments are quite sensitive to temperature and moisture.

[soundfrequency]

I'll sleep when I'm tired enough. [A beat.] Do you know how to play?

[neverplaysfair]

Maybe. It heavily depends on what's actually in it.

[soundfrequency]

What else do you think it could be?

[neverplaysfair]

It could be plenty of things, really. There's a lot that fits in a violin case. [ He says with the certainty that makes it sound like he knows from experience. ]

[soundfrequency]

[Raises an eyebrow.]

Then why take it if you have no idea what it is.

[neverplaysfair]

I can always throw it out later if I don't like it. [ He giggles. ]

[soundfrequency]

[Snort.]

[ After he's been up there for about half an hour, Josh might sense the sudden arrival of someone else on the rooftop. Sanae would've been there sooner if it hadn't taken him so long to find the guy.

Why yes, that's a plate of Christmas cake in his hands, why? ]

[ Joshua turns and looks over Sanae for a couple seconds, then goes back to staring up at the sky, expression completely blank. ]

It would rather ruin the mood I was trying to set.

[ Unfazed, he trots on over and takes a seat at Joshua's side, cake in one hand and two forks in another. ]

I was enjoying it. [ Joshua doesn't even spare him a glance. ]

[ He stays put, not mentioning the cake but making no move to get lost, either. ]

Well, I wouldn't have come out here if I didn't enjoy it, now would I? [ That's a lie ]

[ Sanae makes a little noncommittal noise and holds up a fork pointedly. ]

I went to the trouble of making cake. Think you could humor me for a few minutes, at least? Then I'll be outta your hair.

[ Joshua turns and raises an eyebrow. ]

You made a Christmas cake?

I gave it a shot. It's not like we don't have time to kill, here.

Hmm. Does this make you my boyfriend, then?

We live together, don't we? It could just make us family. Known each other long enough, anyway.

[ But he raises little protest at 'boyfriend'. ]

I wouldn't go that far. [ Though now he's looking at the cake in the dark, a small smile on his face. ]
