Game 054 [Action/Voice]

[ It's windy, and it's cold, but Joshua has an anniversary to celebrate in his own quiet way and he's not going to let the weather stop him. His first stop is to swing by his old room, room 7 at Community Housing 5. It's still empty, but he's not surprised to find that both Hanekoma's graffiti and his own long-disabled traps have disappeared from the walls.

After that, he'll spend some time trying to spray paint one of the not-yet-painted walls of House 38. Of course, given that spray paint doesn't like cold temperatures and really doesn't like wind, that's going to produce a result that's about as neat and tidy as you'd expect. So after a little while wrestling with that, he'll head inside to make himself a cup of nostalgia coffee (not as good as Hanekoma's...) and sit down with his journal to warm up. ]

What was your first experiment here, and what did you think about it? [ He giggles. ] For me, I suppose an amusement park made for a rather gentle introduction. Does anyone else remember the Great Mysterio?

It was in the bottom of the hotel. Luxury I sorely missed at the time.

I primarily used the hotel for sleeping and charging my electronics. Things seem so different before we received electricity here.

Place has come a long way. Though the sore points about it never change.

I doubt it will be anytime soon that that will change. It wouldn't quite be Luceti without residents being randomly kidnapped, now would it? Hee hee.

Kidnappings, drafts, experiments. Meanwhile, residents randomly opening up things like art museums. [Because that's totally useful in a place like this, oh yes.]

Even in the face of hardship, people try to maintain a semblance of normalcy. That's human nature.

They should maintain a semblance of sticking it to the Malnosso, instead. It's much more satisfying.

Ah, but that takes more effort. Normal is what they're used to.

And thus we never get anywhere.

Not many people are willing to keep fighting after years of no visible progress.

Mm. True.

So do you agree with them or are you just playing devil's advocate?

I enjoy a good discussion. How I feel tends to be incidental.

[mikangirl]

[That figures, given what she vaguely recalls about previous conversations.]

So if you found a way to get the Malnosso off your back, would you take it?

That would depend on the price I'd have to pay for it, hee hee. And yourself?

[mikangirl]

Technically the same.

I'd be willing to pay a lot of prices, though.

[neverplaysfair]

You're that desperate?

[mikangirl]

[She curls her lip at that.] If I were desperate I'd pay any price. I pick my bargains more carefully than that.

[neverplaysfair]

There are different amounts of desperation. But the more desperate you get, the worse a bargain you're willing to take.

That's a risk you run when you put resistance high on your priorities.

[mikangirl]

...true enough. [She...really can't say she hasn't made terrible bargains in her time. One just has to look at the very first one she made to know that.]

There are some lines I won't cross, though. No matter what. So I guess... we'll see.

We will. But make sure you keep to that conviction. Otherwise, there's almost no way you won't regret it.

Oh, I know. Bottom line, I have to be able to live with myself. That really kinda limits what I'd be willing to do.

[neverplaysfair]

That's good. Some people don't stop to consider that before they get into situations. And then by the time they realize what they've done, it's already too late.

[mikangirl]

[Yeah, she's kind of guilty of that too. >_> Nami likes to think she's learned her lessons from that. Kinda harsh fallout.]

Some people are too impulsive or greedy for their own good.

You've never made a bad deal?

I wouldn't say that. But I think I've never made a deal I should have known better than to make.

That's the best you can do, sometimes.

I'd like to say the same, but I guess you could say I've learned from experience at least.
