[ It's windy, and it's cold, but Joshua has an anniversary to celebrate in his own quiet way and he's not going to let the weather stop him. His first stop is to swing by his old room, room 7 at Community Housing 5. It's still empty, but he's not surprised to find that both Hanekoma's graffiti and his own long-disabled traps have disappeared from the walls.

After that, he'll spend some time trying to spray paint one of the not-yet-painted walls of House 38. Of course, given that spray paint doesn't like cold temperatures and really doesn't like wind, that's going to produce a result that's about as neat and tidy as you'd expect. So after a little while wrestling with that, he'll head inside to make himself a cup of nostalgia coffee (not as good as Hanekoma's...) and sit down with his journal to warm up. ]

What was your first experiment here, and what did you think about it? [ He giggles. ] For me, I suppose an amusement park made for a rather gentle introduction. Does anyone else remember the Great Mysterio?

I don't know. It was my impression that people don't always feel the same way they think, so maybe he only sees one side of the whole story.

[He pauses as he thinks back to what happened.]

You could always pretend that anyway. [ He did. Or tried. ]

I take it he found out something you'd been keeping from him?

[Had it been such a secret? Tsuzuki isn't so sure. But he knows that it's not something he wants to talk about.]

I didn't try to keep anything from him. But anyway, it's not important anymore.

[ Too late, he brought it up. ]

You might think you're trying not to and do it anyway. It's impossible to let someone know everything about you.

Did it cause a problem?

I didn't think so at the time, but...

It must have confused him.

What happens to an empath who encounters new emotions, do you think?

It serves as a new experience for them. Why?

What if he can't tell the difference between his own and mine? What if I'm polluting him somehow?

Then that would happen no matter who he chose for companionship. Besides, being affected by the emotions of those around them is hardly unique to empaths.

[He hasn't really considered that before.]

You're right. But still, it must be worse for them. Otherwise he wouldn't faint so much.

Maybe he's just anemic?

Maybe. He doesn't eat as much as he should.

So it might be another reason entirely.

If that was the case, I wish I had found out earlier. Letting Hisoka just faint all the time and take it for granted that it can't be fixed seems kind of... mean.

Wouldn't having him hold out for a false hope be in some ways even crueler? If you're only searching for a solution, you might not even notice you have the wrong cause.

Would he honestly answer what is wrong if you asked?

No. Not anymore.

So I have to guess, most of the time.

Or you find out other ways.

But if he won't say, he has little room to complain when things go wrong, don't you think?

It's not his fault. I think that he simply doesn't understand that people need to be told things. We don't pick it up as easily as he does.

Well if that's the way he's going to be, you still have some options. [ Like asking Joshua. ] But tell him that. He cares for you. He might even listen.

[That comments shakes him out of his unusual honesty. Tsuzuki looks at Joshua curiously.]
