Game 054 [Action/Voice]

[ It's windy, and it's cold, but Joshua has an anniversary to celebrate in his own quiet way and he's not going to let the weather stop him. His first stop is to swing by his old room, room 7 at Community Housing 5. It's still empty, but he's not surprised to find that both Hanekoma's graffiti and his own long-disabled traps have disappeared from the walls.

After that, he'll spend some time trying to spray paint one of the not-yet-painted walls of House 38. Of course, given that spray paint doesn't like cold temperatures and really doesn't like wind, that's going to produce a result that's about as neat and tidy as you'd expect. So after a little while wrestling with that, he'll head inside to make himself a cup of nostalgia coffee (not as good as Hanekoma's...) and sit down with his journal to warm up. ]

What was your first experiment here, and what did you think about it? [ He giggles. ] For me, I suppose an amusement park made for a rather gentle introduction. Does anyone else remember the Great Mysterio?

I did! Can't for the life of me remember it now, but I do remember not being very impressed by it. You?

Mine came true. Though I did have to be reminded of it before I realized it.

I wonder if mine did in the end. Guess I'll never know now.

Time really flies, doesn't it? That was my first experiment, too.

It does. Three years already, and yet I can still remember home as clearly as if I had been there yesterday. [ ... then again, he's a bit more obsessive over home than most people tend to be ]

It would have been interesting to know if mine was a simple fluke. [ But considering how detailed the prediction was, Joshua somehow doubts it. ] At this point I'd imagine that most people who were around aren't here anymore. On top of that you'd need to have talked to Mysterio and remember your fortune. At least if it were coming true, it almost certainly would have done so by now.

Come to think of it, I think mine was about getting into trouble. In which case, it was probably accurate. [Nostalgia, man. Things have been more peaceful lately.] He might turn up again if Lucetiland comes back. Guess I can always ask him if he remembers.

[ Well with Halloween on the way, history says it probably won't be peaceful for long... ]

He wasn't there the more recent time, was he?

[So true. Nami's eyeing off the holiday with reasonable dread.] No, I don't think so. Pity.

Indeed. I could have used another hint.

What else did you do at the park?

Monopolised the spa, stole some tokens from a psychotic clown, and watched my crew get dragged off for trying to steal the pirate ship flag.

Hmm... I don't remember the spa at all. I suppose I didn't spend much time there.

It was in the bottom of the hotel. Luxury I sorely missed at the time.

I primarily used the hotel for sleeping and charging my electronics. Things seem so different before we received electricity here.

Place has come a long way. Though the sore points about it never change.

I doubt it will be anytime soon that that will change. It wouldn't quite be Luceti without residents being randomly kidnapped, now would it? Hee hee.

Kidnappings, drafts, experiments. Meanwhile, residents randomly opening up things like art museums. [Because that's totally useful in a place like this, oh yes.]

Even in the face of hardship, people try to maintain a semblance of normalcy. That's human nature.

They should maintain a semblance of sticking it to the Malnosso, instead. It's much more satisfying.

Ah, but that takes more effort. Normal is what they're used to.

And thus we never get anywhere.

Not many people are willing to keep fighting after years of no visible progress.
